Emily @ 12 weeks
I’m going to try to post weekly updates of Emily going forward. I had intended to do that weekly from the beginning, but that just didn’t happen. Oh well….
Yesterday, our sweet pea was 12 weeks old! That seems so old and so not, all at the same time. I guess when I say she’s almost 3 months old, that seems older. I just love that sweet girl!
This week Emily got to come to Bunco with me! Brian started getting sick on Tuesday, so Emily got to tag along with mom since dad was sick and didn’t need to be cuddling with her. I feel really bad for him because I know it’s got to be tough, but we’re really trying to get rid of her stuffy nose and it’s been a losing battle up to this point. Because Brian has been sick, I’ve been picking her up from daycare and I LOVE it! Yesterday after I picked her up, I put her in her Bumbo chair on the counter and put the kid songs on my ipod and I sang to her and smiled while I cleaned bottles. She’s such a joy!
At 12 weeks, she’s continuing to get stronger with her head. She’s not completely holding it up on her own 100% of the time yet – she’s still bobbling, but she’s doing really well. She’s sleeping 8-10 hours at night
She’s still a healthy eater. I fix 3 oz bottles for daycare. Some days she eats every sip of 4 bottles, some days she eats on average 2 oz of 6 bottles. She’ eating anywhere from 12-16 ozs a day at school. She eats once in the morning when she gets up before school, and then anywhere from 2-4 times in the evening. Yesterday she weighed 13 pounds, which isn’t quite double her birth weight (that would be 14.10).
Oops!
I can’t believe I’ve let over 2 months pass without posting. Adjusting to life with baby, going back to work and trying to keep up with housework, etc. has been challenging. Life is wonderful and Emily is purely amazing. I never knew there was a love like this and I can’t imagine my life without her. Both Brian and I are 100% completely in love and awe of our little miracle baby and believe it or not, we’re BOTH looking forward to expanding our family. No, I’m not pregnant and I’m not going to get back on Clomid anytime soon, but if I were to get pregnant again anytime soon, I wouldn’t be as upset as I once thought I would be. Yes, I still have 20 lbs to loose and I would like to loose that before I get pregnant again, with that said, there’s more to life than just looking good and being skinny. My family is amazing and Brian is an amazing dad. Seeing him with Emily melts my heart. He has surprised me beyond words and I love seeing him so in love with Emily. And I LOVE seeing her smile and interact with him – she loves her dad!
So, I’m going to do separate posts with pictures from events. It’s really easier to separate them into different posts. I still want to complete my birth story and I vow to do that soon.
What we’ve been up to
Adjusting to life and sleepless nights
We’re not on a “schedule” because newborns are so unpredictable, especially breastfed ones. We’ll go from getting 8 hours of sleep broken up over a 12-14 hour period to only getting 5 hours in that same time period. I can handle one of those days, but not several in a row. I’m loving it, though. She’s such a precious little thing.
We did take newborn pictures on Sunday and we’ve seen a few sneek peaks. These pictures are going to be to die for and I can’t wait to see the rest.
